They met Jeanetta in Herington and attended the Tri-County Fair, parade, carnival, etc. Jorge participated in the pedal pull at the fairgrounds and won third place. Grandpa and grandma, Junior and Jeanetta took him home Saturday evening.

Clark Strecker and Austin of Rose Hill spent July 3 with me. Of course, they did some work for me.

Steve Eskeldson stopped July 11 to tell me he saw an armadillo on the road west of my place.

When my husband, Melvin was stationed at Camp Polk, La., and I was working for Long Ball Lumber Company at DeRidder, La., there were signs along the road, "beware of armadillos." If a car hit them right it would turn over the car. Steve said he heard the armadillos were in the north. Beware of porcupines. Their needles are like fish hooks. If they penetrate your flesh, it is hard to remove them, usually requiring a little surgery.

On July 4, supper guests of Adele Katz and Steve were Selma Ingram, Larry and Connie Jenkins, Oaklan and Tia, Biram and Barbie Ndrd of Lawrence, and Charles and Lori Smithhart of Hillsboro. After supper they enjoyed a fireworks display.

Larry Rudolph went to Herington July 7 to visit Mary Helen Black, Micky and Lance. All of them went downtown to watch the Tri-County Fair parade. Then they went to the fairgrounds to take in the carnival and booths.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik were Sunday dinner guests of Kelby and Rita Schawe in Wichita.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu attended the Hope North Central Kansas Cooperative after-harvest picnic in the park July 10.

Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Makovec, Andrew and Alecia of California, Bob and Carol Makovec, Jennifer Makovec of Salina, Colleen Klug, Nicole and Alison, Mark Makovec and Hunter, Taylor Heitfield, and Addison Makovec, all of Herington, and Irma Reznicek and Bob ate supper Friday evening at Al's Café in Lost Springs.

Frances Stuchlik's guests from July 9-12 were Leonard and Becky Miller and John and Andrea Gregory of Cave Creek, Ariz.

Bob and Irma Reznicek and Bob and Carol Makovec ate dinner July 9 at the Ramona Café.

The Frances Stuchlik family got together July 9 for dinner and supper at Frances' home. The day before, Jeff Scharping and Bob of Wichita mowed Frances' yard, trimmed trees, and made a horseshoe pit.
