Lost Springs: Scharping celebrates birthday

Jeff Scharping of Wichita took his grandmother, Frances Stuchlik to Wichita Saturday to celebrate his mother, Ruby Scharping's birthday which was Oct. 25. They went to a supper club at Benton. Those attending were Ruby Scharping, Frances Stuchlik, Brian and Jan Scharping and family, Jeff and Julie Scharping and family, and Mike and Candee Thode, all of Wichita, Terry and Grace Stuchlik and family of Emporia, Mark and Roberta Stuchlik of Edmond, Okla., Marilyn Holub, Damien and Sonya Carrillo and family, and Kenneth and Melinda Stuchlik and Patrick of Towanda. After the celebration, Frances stayed Saturday night with her daughter, Ruby Scharping. Ruby brought her mother home Sunday.

Mildred Hajek spent a week visiting her daughter, Irene Waylon and husband in Miami, Okla.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu went to Hillsboro Friday to the home of Jayson and Jan Hanschu. Jeanetta attended a home party while Jayson, Junior, and boys, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxon played in the basement.

Ronnie Hajek and sons, Darren and Trent of Salina visited Saturday afternoon with me while they were getting their portable corral. Ronnie planned to get his cattle out of the pasture while the boys were at home over the weekend.

We are sorry to hear Vernon Deines died Sunday. His funeral was Tuesday at Ascension Lutheran Church, Wichita. Those attending the funeral were Mervin and Leona Deines, Jeff and Gayla Deines, Jessica, Shelby, and Justin, Terry and Julie Deines, McKenzie, Dylan, and Carly, Ross and Debbie Coup, Samantha and Adam of Hope, Weldon and Rosemary Deines, Christina Bartel and daughter of Herington, and Curtis and Jennifer Deines of Colorado. Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Fred Utech, and Rick Hanschu also attended services.

Larry Rudolph was my supper guest Sunday after doing some work.

Tom and Diann Ensz, Colton, Kyle, Jacob, Joseph, and Natalie Marie of Texas visited Friday and Saturday with Alex and Jean Stuchlik. They came earlier to attend Tom's uncle, Douglas Ensz, funeral Thursday at Newton.

Natalie Marie, daughter of Tom and Diann Ensz was baptized Saturday morning at St. Mark Catholic Church, Marion. The sponsors were Kelby and Rita Schawe of Wichita. Those attending the baptism and dinner at the home of Gary and Jo Ann Stuchlik were Alex and Jean Stuchlik, Chris and Melissa Stuchlik and family of Tampa, Robert and Debbie Burns and family and Kelby and Rita Schawe, all of Wichita, Tom and Diann Ensz and family of Texas, and Gary and Jo Ann Stuchlik and family.

Bob Makovec and John Reznicek helped their brother, Bob Reznicek combine milo this past week.

Ronnie Hajek told me the Lost Springs Fire Department bought two used fire trucks from the city of New York.

Tom Reznicek of Lawrence visited Oct. 26 with his mother, Irma Reznicek and brother Bob. He did some plumbing and other work.

Lori Torline and children, Carolyn and Matthew of Derby helped mom, Irma Reznicek Thursday with some work and visited Bob.

Larry combined my soybeans Friday afternoon. Ronnie Hajek hauled it to the elevator.

Kenneth and Debbie Reznicek, Nathan and Nicholas of Burlington visited Friday with Irma and Bob Reznicek and took them out to dinner at Al's Café at Lost Springs.

Troy Madron Jr., moved in a double-wide trailer at Lost Springs after they tore down the house damaged by fire. His folks who live nearby also moved in a trailer home near their house.

Bob and Irma Reznicek attended the Knights of Columbus breakfast after Mass at St. John Nep. Catholic Church at Pilsen. Bob helped in the kitchen.

Irma and Bob Reznicek attended the 12th Annual Pilgrimage of Saints Sunday afternoon put on by the children of PSR classes from Pilsen, Tampa, and Marion. They released the balloon rosary. This was held at Pilsen Community Hall.

Larry Rudolph accompanied Ted Damson to Topeka for a physical checkup at Colmery O'Neil VA Hospital.

Dr. Bob and Hallie Novak went Saturday to Manhattan to attend the Kansas State and Colorado State football game.

Sarah Stuchlik helped her mother-in-law during the week with some work.

Douglas Strecker called me Tuesday night and said he and Marsha are working 10 hours a day at Hesston Forage.

Bill Barrett of Herington visited Larry Rudolph this past week.
