Lost Springs: Stuchlik attends Hawaiian dinner

Herington Lutheran Home Inc. celebrated dietary week this past week. Cindy Gabe picked up Frances Stuchlik Friday and took her to the Hawaiian dinner held there. After dinner Cindy took Frances home. Frances said Alice Schneider, a resident, was so glad to see her, she gave Frances a hug. Frances use to help cook at the home.

Raelene Hajek drove Thursday to Goodland to attend a grandparents' breakfast at Cade and Maggie McLean's school. Jon and Lynette McLean hosted a birthday party Saturday for Cade's sixth birthday, which was Sunday. Raelene returned home Sunday.

Larry Rudolph accompanied me Thursday noon to Marion. Both of us had business at the courthouse. I got my car tags. We shopped at Duckwall's then went to Marion Manor where we visited my brother, Emil Pospisil. I took him some gumdrops and then we visited Naomi Fike. Both of them looked good and were glad to see us. We did more shopping and business before leaving Marion. We got as far as Jim and Rosalie Rudolph's drive when my Ford stopped running. Rosalie took me home while Jim and Larry towed my car into their yard. Jim Spohn towed my car Friday to his shop.

Junior Hanschu went Saturday to Verdon and Treva Schneider's sale. He said the sale went until 5 p.m.

Sorry to hear that Dalford Beisel of Salina died Sunday. He was 68 years old.

Selma Ingram visited Friday morning with me. She brought a bag of apples.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik attended the wedding Saturday of Heather Tajchman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tajchman of Marion and David Darrow of Marion at the Pilsen Catholic church. They also went to the reception and dance at Pilsen Community Center.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu and their children, Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxon of Hillsboro, Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Joshua of Windom, Neil and Jolene Albrecht, Kallie and Morgan of Salina attended the 100th anniversary celebration Sunday of Trinity Lutheran Church at Ramona. Two hundred thirty-five attended the morning service and 260 ate dinner in the parish hall. After dinner, services were held in a tent north of the church. After the celebration, all of Junior and Jeanetta's children gathered at their home.

Irma Benda, rural Marion, and Larry Rudolph visited Friday evening with me. Marcel and William were planting wheat near Antelope. I served them lunch.

Gary and JoAnn Stuchlik hosted a dinner and birthday party Sunday in honor of their son, Derek's 12th birthday. Guests were Alex and Jean Stuchlik, Chris and Melissa Stuchlik, Charles, Timothy, and Quentin of Tampa, and Amanda, Zachary, Nicholas, Maria, and Abigail Stuchlik.

Mervin and Leona Deines attended the 100th anniversary church service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ramona. Pastor Troup gave the sermon. They also attended the dinner and afternoon service in the tent. Johanna (Brunner) Kaiser of Lincolnville, at the age of 103 was the oldest in attendance. She was confirmed in the class of 1916 at that church. Her son, Les Kaiser of Lincolnville, brought her to the celebration.

Ramona and Don Beisel of Tampa and Ruby Scharping of Wichita visited Sunday with their mom, Frances Stuchlik.

Larry Rudolph visited Saturday night with Mike and Karen Walsh and Renee.

Monty and Sarah Stuchlik checked on Frances Stuchlik during the week. Frances said the battery in her car was dead. Monty was there this morning to get the battery and replace it. The battery in my Chevrolet was dead this past Thursday. Friday Larry got a new battery and installed it in my car.

Bill Burnett of Herington visited Sunday night with Larry Rudolph.

John Schwartzman of Salina picked me up Tuesday afternoon. We went to Marion Manor at Marion to visit my brother, Emil Pospisil.

Tom Reznicek of Lawrence spent Saturday through Monday helping combine and with field work.

Renee Walsh, daughter of Mike and Karen Walsh won third place at Special Olympics Regional Bowling competition Saturday at Salina.

Bob Makovec helped Bob Reznicek and brother Tom Reznicek with combining Sunday and was a supper guest of Irma and Bob.

Mike Walsh has a brother, Steve Walsh who lived in New Orleans. His house was totally destroyed. He found a steel box of important items in mud at his property. They never will be able to move into their home.

Irma Reznicek and sons, Tom and Bob ate dinner at Al's Café this past week.
