Mable Steiner

Mable Steiner, 77, died July 15, 2004, at Hillsboro.

Born Aug. 12, 1926, in Glade, Ark., she was the daughter of Nick and Mary (Morrison) Rayon.

She spent most of her early years in Golden, Mo., before moving to Wichita. While in Wichita, she worked as a sales clerk.

She met Hubert Steiner and they were married on April 27, 1953, in Pilsen. The couple had five children.

She was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed her family and found pleasure in walking her dogs, reading, and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Kenneth.

Survivors include a son, Myron of McPherson; three daughters, Gwen Johnson of Wichita, Glenda Stoppel of Hillsboro, and Ginger Steiner of Emporia; a sister, Florence Shumaker of Golden, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at Zeiner Funeral Home with Father Steve Gronert officiating.

Vocalist was Jeff Bina, who sang "How Great Thou Art," and "On Eagles Wings." Charlene Svitak was organist. Mable's grandson, Seth Johnson, played special music on his guitar.

Casket bearers were Kelly Steiner, Kevin Steiner, Shanna Taylor, Eric Taylor, Dennis Steiner, and Larry Steiner.

Honorary casket bearers were Marci Wodke, Justin Wodke, Seth Johnson, and Emily Johnson.

Burial was in Pilsen Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with the Alzheimer's Disease Association or Hillsboro Community Medical Center Alzheimer's Unit
