Manhattan church is setting for Erickson, Carlson wedding

Liz Leighann Erickson and Derek Paul Carlson were married July 22 at College Avenue Methodist Church, Manhattan.

The Rev. Ken Trickle of Chapman officiated at the seven o'clock double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Rick and Collette Erickson of Chapman and the granddaughter of Marjorie Erickson of Herington and Howard and Beth Collett of Marion.

The groom is the son of Verle and Sheryl Carlson of Lyons and the grandson of Ramon and Mary Lou Carlson of Bella Vista, Ark., and Dolores Jennings of Little River. Perry Rashleigh of Little River is his great-grandfather.

Tapers were lighted by the bride's and groom's aunts and uncles and their families.

Scripture readers were the bride's aunt, Melinda Gravenstein of Nevada City, Calif., and the groom's aunt, Pam Nanney of Hutchinson.

Vocalist was the bride's uncle, Keith Collett of Marion. He sang, "Love Will Be Our Home," "Follow Me," and "The Lord's Prayer." Pianist was Erin Jeshke of Manhattan.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white princess style gown with crystal beading and lace trim. The gown featured a buttoned back and chapel-length train.

The bride carried a bouquet of lavender roses.

Kate Erickson of Manhattan was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Misty Deeds of Wichita, Ashley Moneymaker of Manhattan, and Sarah Carlson of Ankeny, Iowa.

They wore floor-length black gowns of their own choosing and carried bouquets of purple and lavender roses and calla lilies.

Jeremy Higgins of Wichita served his friend as best man. Groomsmen were Brandon Carlson of Ankeny, Iowa, Blake Carlson of Manhattan, and Drew Halderson of Kansas City.

The groom's cousins, Luke and Hallie Jennings of Wichita were ring bearer and flower girl.

Guests were seated by Ryan DaMetz of Shawnee, Kane Adams of Pennsylvania, Jon Richardson of Troy, and Alex Lord of Olathe.

Laci Adams of Pennsylvania and Kelly Burton of Lyons were guest book attendants. Elizabeth Gravenstein of Nevada City, Calif., was in charge of gifts.

Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception were held at Wareham Opera House, Manhattan.

Hosts were the bride's uncle and aunt, Randy and Rachel Collett of Jefferson City, Mo., and the groom's uncle and aunt, Max and Linda DaMetz of Shawnee.

Cake table attendants were Janet Edwards, Janet Meyer, Vicki Paul, and Sarah Will, all of Chapman.

The bride is a first grade teacher at Village Elementary School, Emporia. The groom teaches seventh grade math at Emporia Middle School.

Following a wedding trip to Colorado, the couple lives in Emporia.
