Marguerite Utech

Marguerite E. Utech, 82, Ramona, died June 4, 2008, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center, Hillsboro.

Born Nov. 27, 1925, near Hope, she was the daughter of Charley and Maggie (Friedli) Bayes.

She graduated from Hope High School in 1943.

On June 25, 1944, she married Fred E. Utech. They lived and farmed in the Ramona and Tampa area.

Prior to her marriage, she worked as a clerk at the Herington Air Base and later as a cook at the Herington Sale Barn Café for 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; and three brothers, Charles, Verne, and William Bayes.

Survivors include two sons, Garland of Amsterdam, Mo., and Marlon of Collierville, Tenn.; daughter, Jeanetta Hanschu of Ramona; sister, Margery Brown of Merriam; brother, Glenn Bayes of Herington; sister-in-law, Darlene Bayes of Salina; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday morning at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, Hope, with the Rev. Clark Davis officiating.

Burial was in Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.

Memorial funds have been established in her name with Trinity Lutheran Church, Ramona, or the Ramona Senior Center.
