Marion adopts emergency plan, shelter locations

An emergency response plan for electrical outages and emergency operations center plan were approved Monday by Marion City Commission.

The plan provides procedures for city personnel in the event of an extended power outage or other emergency.

A permanent generator will be purchased and placed at the city building to provide an emergency operations center with the Marion fire and police departments being a secondary center.

In case of an emergency, Marion Ministerial Alliance will activate a "calling tree" to inform residents of the plan and of available shelters. Transportation would be coordinated for residents to reach shelters.

Guidelines were included regarding electrical crews, when assistance from other communities would be requested, and emergency debris removal.
