Marion FFA members attend events at Pratt

Students from Marion-Florence FFA Chapter competed April 19 in three south central district Agriculture Technology Management Career Development Events at Pratt Community College.

Marion's A-team placed third in the energy systems contest. Adam Depler was fourth and Braden Suffield placed fifth in the individual competition.

In the environmental and natural resource systems contest, the A-team placed third. Individual placements included Clayton Garnica, sixth; Gavin Moore, seventh; and Hank Collett, eighth.

In the machinery and equipment systems contest, the A-team was third and Garnica placed sixth, Moore was seventh, and Mitch Neuwirth was ninth individually.

Depler, Moore, Garnica, and Suffield were members of the A-team for Marion.

Marion's B-team of Neuwirth, Collett, Charlie Holub, and John Groening placed first in environmental and natural resource systems and second in both energy systems and the machinery and equipment systems contests.

Contestants in the competition were required to complete numerous tests and practicums over animal waste control, energy systems, and feedlot design.

Activities included reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, identifying parts on a round baler, completing a torch-cutting exercise, welding exercise, troubleshooting and adjusting a small gas engine, and a team activity which involved designing a feedlot facility.
