Marion FFA members attend state convention

Members of the Marion-Florence FFA Chapter attended the 76th annual state FFA convention May 28-30 at Manhattan.

Leann Thomas placed second in the chapter FFA scrapbook competition.

The Marion-Florence chapter was recognized for making the gold division (top 10 percent in all chapters) in the chapter award area of community development, silver division in chapter development, and bronze division in student development. The chapter also placed in the silver division in chapter safety competition.

Becky Tharp of Marion participated in the state FFA chorus which performed at several convention sessions.

More than 1,500 FFA members and guests attended the convention and heard retiring addresses from state officers, heard the keynote speech from national FFA president Javier Moreno, and listened to several motivational speakers.

Delegates from FFA chapters across the state participated in business sessions and passed four amendments to the Kansas FFA constitution.

FFA members from Marion participated in a leadership workshop and attended all six sessions of the convention.

In addition to Thomas and Tharp, others attending included Shawn Britton, Adam Depler, Braden Suffield, Preston Williams, Danielle Cope, and Riley Ross. Nancy Tharp and Mark Meyer were sponsors.
