Marion-Florence FFA members attend state convention at Manhattan

Members of Marion-Florence FFA Chapter attended the 78th annual state FFA convention May 31-June 2 at Manhattan.

More than 1,200 FFA members and guests from across the state of Kansas attended the convention.

Participants listened to retiring addresses of state FFA officers, heard from national FFA secretary, Jessie Geib, and heard several motivational speakers, including Dr. Rick Rigsby from Texas A&M University.

Delegates from FFA chapters participated in business sessions and passed three amendments to the Kansas FFA constitution.

Members from the Marion-Florence chapter participated in a leadership workshop and attended all six general sessions of the convention.

Adam Depler of Florence was recognized as a Star in Agribusiness finalist. Depler also was recognized as the state winner of the Forest Management and Products proficiency award.

Braden Suffield was recognized as the state winner of the Emerging Ag Technology proficiency award. Suffield also was responsible for designing the local FFA chapter website, which placed in the gold division in state competition.

The Marion-Florence FFA chapter was recognized for making the silver division in the chapter award areas of student development, chapter development, and community development. The chapter also made the silver division in chapter safety competition.

Members attending from Marion included Depler, Suffield, Shawn Britton, Emmanuel Jackson, Danielle Cope, Charlie Holub, Austin Percell, Tacy Taylor, Levi Carpenter, Brad Klenda, Mark Kukuk, and Roxann Ross. Mary Griffith and Mark Meyer served as sponsors.
