Marion FSA has new intern

Sports reporter

Elizabeth Morris from the University of Kentucky is interning at the United States Department of Agriculture office in Marion.

Morris, originally from Paducah, Ky., will be working side-by-side with director Bill Harmon for the next 10 weeks.

"This is right down my alley," Morris said.

Morris is a member of HACU, Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, which strives to help more Hispanics find jobs in the government work force.

"I really admire Hispanics," she said. "They are hard workers."

HACU, based in Washington D.C., is sponsoring Morris on the trip and helping to work with UK by giving her school credit.

An agricultural economics major with one semester remaining before graduation, Morris will be working hard as well this summer.

"I want to learn everything about FSA (Farm Service Agency)" she said.

For now she is learning Kansas and everything it has to offer.

"I think it's gorgeous," she said. "I love the wide open spaces."

Morris said she would someday like to work for the government concerning Mexico-U.S. border logistics.
