Marion, Hillsboro may consider hospital merger
CEOs of St. Luke Hospital and Hillsboro Community Medical Center continue to talk to each other and their boards regarding the possibility of future consolidation.
Jeremy Armstrong, chief executive officer of St. Luke Hospital, said he and Mike Ryan of Hillsboro Community Medical Center, recently met with Via Christi regarding a county needs assessment.
"We're spending a lot of time and effort in making plans for future expansions," Armstrong said, so the boards need to decide if consolidating the two facilities are feasible.
Armstrong said both boards are open to discussing the matter with assistance from the Wichita hospital to improve quality of care as critical access hospitals.
