Marion Kroening

Marion E. Kroening, 89, of Herington, died Oct. 15, 2007.

Born March 21, 1918, at Ramona, she was the daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (McRae) Eskeldson.

She served in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps during World War II and the Korean War.

On Sept. 2, 1956, she married Walter Kroening at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek, Herington. He died in 1977.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, James Eskeldson; three sisters, Isabelle Hale, Katrina Eskeldson, and Grace Schubert; and her parents.

Survivors include a brother, Steve Eskeldson of Ramona; and sister, Virginia Anderson of Manhattan.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, with the Rev. John Riebhoff officiating.

Burial with full military honors was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Lyons Creek, Herington.

A memorial fund has been established with St. John's Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek, Herington.
