Marion Manor: Music, the best medicine enjoyed by residents

Music truly is the best medicine. We were treated twice the week of Aug. 14 with a healthy dose of music. Residents were drawn into the front living room Aug. 16 by the sounds of Gene Vinduska's accordion. Gene entertained residents with many of their favorite polkas and waltzes. Residents enjoyed Lois Winter Aug. 17 as she played piano and sang. By popular demand, our physical therapist Patti sang with Lois. We still are looking for volunteers to come to play the piano.

Our usual activities took place this week as well. Morning exercises continue to be popular along with bingo. Bingo was played the evening of Aug. 19 for the night owls.

Red Hat Society met Aug. 18 in the front living room. Several residents gathered with them for popcorn, colas, and a movie. After the movie all sat around and talked about some favorite movies.

We have another new member to our family, Rosie. She is a delightful lady. We enjoy having her with us. Rosie already is one of our avid bingo players.

This past week found us busy doing our normal routine which included morning exercise and bingo.

Again the Red Hat Ladies met Thursday for conversation and treats. All enjoyed rocky road brownies from Carlsons' Grocery.

Volunteer Pat Smith was here to say the rosary. She also volunteers to do nails of residents.

We are starting to see some new faces around the facility as friends of our new residents have come to visit and volunteer for some activities.

Everyone is welcome to join in on activities at any time. If you find you have some spare time on your hands and would like to volunteer for an activity, please come in.
