We were happy to see the return of the sun. It was a beautiful day Monday for Khrista Branson of St. Luke Living Center to transport our guests. She brought six people from the living center to join us for bingo. Guests had popcorn, played bingo, and all agreed the lighted bingo board is great. Marion residents extended an invitation for the living center residents to join us again. We also played bingo on Wednesday with volunteer Bill calling the games. Donetta, our newest volunteer, called bingo Friday for the residents.

Father Steve Groening was here Wednesday for Mass. Later in the morning residents joined Dick Pracht for Bible study.

Red Hat Society women met Thursday with volunteer Adeline Bernhardt. The women enjoyed cookies and soda. Adeline read from the "Book of Sisters." We are going to have to find a bigger meeting place as the quiet lounge was packed with one of the largest groups. Anyone is welcome to come and hostess a Red Hat society get-together or just come and join in as a visitor.

Thursday evening the air was filled with music. Lois Winter came at 4:30 p.m. and played piano for residents. Staff and residents joined in the singing. It's good to hear music in the building as it lifts everyone's spirits.

Volunteer Pat Smith was here for communion and to recite the rosary. Pat met in the quiet lounge with residents. Afterward she gave residents manicures and visited.

Resident June assisted with the morning exercise group all week.

Resident council met Thursday. Residents helped plan menus and themes for upcoming family potluck nights.

We ventured out Friday to McDonald's for lunch. Pete, Ralph, Arlie, June, Rubena, Connie, and Irene went on the trip. After lunch we drove around Hillsboro, then returned home. Residents enjoyed the trip as much as lunch. It was nice to see the countryside surrounding our community. The smell of fresh cut alfalfa was in the air and everything was so green, in contrast to the golden wheat.

We have two new residents, Bernice and Aline. Both are wonderful women and we are happy to have them here with us for however long they plan on being here. So welcome, we hope you enjoy being here as much as we enjoy having your company.
