Marion police apprehend juvenile

A juvenile was apprehended Nov. 26 when Marion Police Officers witnessed the youth damaging property.

Nov. 20: A hit-and-run accident at Roosevelt and Main was investigated. A complaint of harassment was investigated. An open business door was discovered; the building was checked, and an officer met with the key-holder.

Nov. 21: A subject met with an officer regarding possible damage to city property. Response was provided to a residence in the 600 block of Sherman for a verbal domestic situation; one party had left the residence when the officer arrived. Assistance was provided to Marion County Sheriff's Department with traffic control on Sunflower.

Nov. 22: A warning was issued for driving while license was suspended. A report of an anhydrous ammonia leak at Cooperative Grain and Supply was checked; an officer met with co-op personnel; no leak was located.

Nov. 23: A warning was issued for illegal stopping or parking on roadway. A welfare check was conducted in the 200 block of South Cedar; everything was OK. A criminal trespass complaint was investigated.

Nov. 24: A warning was issued for a defective headlight.

Nov. 25: A funeral escort was conducted. An officer investigated a depravation of property complaint.

Nov. 26: Traffic control was provided downtown for a Christmas parade. A civil standby was conducted in the 300 block of North Lincoln. A dog running at-large was picked up; an officer met with the owners. Officers witnessed a criminal damage to property incident in the 200 block of South Fourth; the suspect fled but was apprehended a few blocks from the scene; the juvenile was taken to juvenile intake. A 911 hang-up was checked in the 300 block of South Coble; everything was OK. Hillsboro Police Department received assistance with an evacuation of several buildings because of a fire. An investigation was conducted regarding illegal dumping on Main Street by a tractor-trailer.

Nov. 27: An individual met an officer regarding a lost dog. An ongoing investigation continues with SRS. City crews met with officials regarding damage to a street. A citizen found lost property and turned it over to authorities. Traffic control was provided for the fire department on a run.

Nov. 28: A traffic speed study was conducted in the area of Weldon and Coble. A report was made of Christmas light bulbs being stolen in Central Park. A non-injury accident was investigated. A suspicious person was checked in the park; everything was OK.

Nov. 29: A winter weather warning resulted in an officer conducting a weather watch. A warning was issued for defective trailer lights. Traffic control was provided for an ambulance on a run. Union Pacific Railroad personnel were contacted regarding malfunctioning signal arms on Santa Fe. A radar speed study was conducted on Weldon Street.

Thursday: A weather watch was conducted. An officer attended a driver's license hearing in Salina.

Friday: Warnings were issued to two dog owners following a dog barking complaint in the 300 block of South Roosevelt. A motorist received assistance when the vehicle stalled at Cedar and Main. An open business door was located; the building was checked and secured.

Saturday: An officer conducted radar training for an out-of-county agency. An unattended death was investigated.
