Marion Police Department: Officers report various activities throughout the week

Marion Police Officers gave directions to a basketball tournament, quieted motel guests, and assisted other agencies.

June 9: An officer conducted vehicle identification number inspections. Response was given to an activated business alarm. A motorist received assistance with contacting a locksmith to unlock their vehicle. A group of people at Country Inn Motel was asked to be quiet.

June 10: Traffic control was provided at Fifth and Main streets for an ambulance. A Marion County Sheriff's deputy reported someone had loosened radio antennas on his vehicle. A complaint was filed regarding a civil issue.

June 11: An officer gave directions to a gymnasium for a basketball tournament and to the county lake. Stolen property was recovered. Assistance was provided to Kansas Highway Patrol in locating the owner of a vehicle that was involved in an accident in southeast Kansas.

June 12: A civil standby was provided while someone got their property. A towing company received directions. A warning was issued for driving without headlights. A citation was issued to a minor for possession of tobacco products. Warnings were issued for inoperable headlights and taillights. An open door was located at a school; a school official responded and secured the building.

June 13: Two funeral escorts were provided. A sheriff's deputy received assistance with an accident investigation. Two juveniles were reported as runaways and later located in Hutchinson.

June 14: An officer attempted to locate an individual who was wanted by another jurisdiction. A warning was issued for a defective muffler. An officer spoke with a landlord regarding an eviction notice that was served. An attempt was made to locate an individual wanted by the sheriff's department regarding a criminal case. A dog was picked up for running at-large in the area of Highland and Freeborn streets. A bicycle was reported stolen. An officer attended training in Kansas City. A warning was issued for inoperable taillights on a farm vehicle. An activated alarm was checked at a local business.

Thursday: Illegal dumping was investigated. An officer worked on the computer system. A citizen registered a bicycle. A dog was reported running at-large in the 700 block of South Freeborn Street. A motorist received directions to Herington. A possible drunk driver that was reported driving to Marion was sought. An officer talked with a citizen regarding his license being suspended.

Officers drove 854 miles, and issued one citation and five warning citations.
