Marion Police Department: PD arrests suspect in arson case

Following an extensive investigation by Marion Police Department, a Marion man was arrested in connection with the July 26 arson fire of a garage and mobile home on South Coble, Marion.

Aug. 1: An officer was in Hillsboro for a meeting. Identa-Kid prints were taken at the police department. An emergency message was delivered. A subject involved in a hit-and-run collision was stopped and held for sheriff's deputies. An abandoned bicycle was recovered.

Aug. 2: A juvenile met with an officer regarding a shoplifting incident. An emergency message was delivered. A ride was provided to a stranded motorist.

Thursday: Follow-up interviews were conducted for a case. The owner of a dog running at-large in the 300 block of South Third Street was issued a warning; the animal was secured. Response was given to a 911 alarm; everything was OK.

Friday: A stolen or lost vehicle license tag was investigated. An emergency message was delivered. Two warnings were issued for speeding. Criminal damage to property was reported in the 300 block of East Main Street when a trash can holder was damaged.

Saturday: A warning was issued to the owner of a dog running at-large in the 400 block of South Third Street. A civil standby was conducted. An officer met with a subject regarding a civil matter. A lost motorist and a motorist who locked their keys in their vehicle received assistance.

Officers drove 788 miles, and issued four warning citations and made one arrest.
