Marion Police Department: Warnings issued for fireworks violations

Marion Police Department issued numerous warning citations this past week for unlawful discharge of fireworks.

June 24: A warning was issued for a J-turn. An open business door was discovered; the building was checked and secured. An ambulance crew received assistance on a run.

June 25: An officer met with a subject regarding a parking complaint in a residential area. A lost motorist received assistance. Response was given to a domestic dispute; no physical contact was made with the victim and suspect was not at the scene when officers arrived.

June 26: A civil process was served. Assistance was given to two ambulance crews on two runs. An open business door was found; the building was checked and secured.

June 27: Three warnings were issued for discharging of fireworks.

June 28: Officers attended municipal court. Two junk vehicle letters were issued. Response was given to a 911 hang up at a business; everything was OK. An officer responded to a domestic dispute in the 300 block of West Main Street; situation was verbal; subjects were separated. Seven warnings were issued for discharging of fireworks. A suspicious person was reported in the area of Santa Fe and the railroad tracks but not located. A warning was issued to the owner of a barking dog on North Freeborn Street.

Thursday: Two dogs were picked up for running at-large in the area of Main and Freeborn streets. Lost property was reported. Five warnings were issued for discharging of fireworks. A funeral escort was provided. A harassment complaint was filed in the downtown area of Main Street.
