Marion Senior Center celebrates Cowboy Day

Folks at Marion Senior Center entered into the spirit of the Wild West Friday by celebrating the second annual National Day of the Cowboy.

June Jost started the program with a rendition of "Red River Valley" on his harmonica.

The following readings were presented: "Cowboy Heaven" by Keith Holtsclaw; "A Cowboy's Hat" by Leonard Klassen; "Dressin' Up" by Larry Blosser; "Fixin' the Outhouse" by Ivanlee Timm; "Cowboy Wit" by Charles Montgomery, and "Scars" by Ralph Popp.

The program concluded with everyone singing, "Home on the Range."

The actual National Day of the Cowboy was Saturday. A full day of activities at Cowtown in Wichita began with an appearance by Governor Kathleen Sebelius at the Old Cowtown Museum.
