Marion Summervill

Marion Summervill, 68, died Sept. 10, 2006, at his home in Arvada, Colo.

Born Aug. 6, 1938, at Hillsboro, he was the son of Wesley and Mildred Summervill.

He attended Brown country school south of Marion and graduated from Marion High School. He attended Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia, earning bachelor's and master's degrees in music education. He earned a specialist in education degree from Colorado University, Boulder, Colo.

He taught school and was principal of several elementary schools in Colorado, retiring in 1993. He began a second career as a reservation agent for Continental Airlines, retiring in 2003. His third career was with a funeral home, driving limousines and directing funerals for five years. His final career, as a bus driver, occurred in the same school system from which he retired.

On May 23, 1992, he married his wife, Val.

Survivors include his wife Val; two sons, Tyler and Chad; daughter, Paula; stepdaughter, Tammy Pilapil; stepson, Gerhard Ohmstede; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Dennis Navrat of Burbank, S.D.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Barbara Summervill of Hutchinson and Mick and Marjorie Summervill of Marion; aunt, Lucille Bredemeier of Marion; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Arvada Covenant Church, Arvada, Colo., and at 1 p.m. Monday at Marion Christian Church.
