Mark Applegate
Mark M. Applegate, 51, of Herington, died March 29, 2005, at Marion.
Born May 8, 1953, at Herington, he was the son of Jack and Neva (Brunner) Applegate.
He was a 1971 graduate of Marion High School and attended Emporia State University until he began work for the Rock Island Railroad in 1973.
He was a machine operator for the maintenance of way with the Union Pacific Railroad and currently was president of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, Union #376.
On May 25, 1979, he married Patricia King at Paris, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; mother, Neva Applegate of Marion; a brother, Lynn Applegate of Wichita; and a sister, Kaye Darrow of Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington.
Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.
The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
A memorial fund has been established with Central Park, Marion.
