Matthew Johnson

Matthew Johnson, 28, of Manhattan, died Jan. 29, 2008, at Topeka.

Born Oct. 17, 1979, at Fort Scott, he was the son of Michael and Mary (Malmgren) Johnson.

He graduated from Jayhawk Linn High School and attended Fort Scott Community College and Kansas State University.

He was employed as a truck driver for Nelson Farms. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mound City.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joanna Johnson and Leslie and Mary Etta Malmgren; and an infant brother, Morgan Andrew Johnson.

Survivors include his parents, Mike and Mary Johnson of Mound City; brother, Marcus Johnson of Larned; five sisters, Michaela Barrett of Marionville, Mo., Myra Johnson of Lenexa, Megan Harris of Louisburg, and Marinda and Monica Johnson, both of Manhattan; and grandfather, John Johnson.

A prayer service was held Sunday afternoon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mound City.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday morning at the church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mound City.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Matthew Johnson FFA Scholarship Fund.
