Max Stroda

Max J. Stroda, 81, of Hope, died Dec. 21, 2004, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

Born March 15, 1923, in Marion County, he was the son of Vern and Gladys (Smith) Stroda.

He moved to a farm near Hope as a small child, attended the local schools, and graduated from Hope High School.

On Dec. 27, 1945, he married Joan Strait at Hope.

He was a farmer/stockman in Dickinson, Butler, and Morris counties and a member of St. Phillip Catholic Church, Hope.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of Hope; a son, Steve Stroda of Hope; three daughters, Sherry Little of Emporia, Linda Peters of Lehigh, and Janet Barrett of Hope; two brothers, Boyd Stroda and Clarence Stroda, both of Hope; a sister, Edna Polston of Hope; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The rosary was recited Thursday evening at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, Hope.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Friday morning at St. Phillip Catholic Church with Father Mark Wesely officiating.

Burial was in Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Hope.

Memorial funds have been established with the church or the Disability Supports of the Great Plains.
