Mayme Smith

Mayme (Pinkston) Smith, 96, formerly of Cedar Point, died Sept. 14, 2004, at Enterprise Estates Nursing Center, Enterprise.

Born Oct. 1, 1907, in Wonsevu, she was the daughter of Levi and Ethlyn (Houghton) Pinkston.

On Dec. 29, 1949, she married Albert Smith in El Dorado. He died in 1981.

She worked as a telephone operator in Seminole, Okla., and as a grocery store clerk at Whitcomb's Grocery in Cedar Point. She was a member of the Methodist church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers, John "Hog," Kenneth "Tac," Clyde "Red," Ralph "Terry," Hugh "Cobby," and Willis "Bud" Pinkston; two sisters, Katherine Sharrai and Josie Foushee; and twin granddaughters.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Jerome Hyman of Hope; a brother, Alfred "Chub" Pinkston of Branson, Mo.; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Graveside service was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Point Cemetery with the Rev. George Lespagnard officiating.

Memorial funds have been established with Enterprise Estates Nursing Center or Cedar Point Community Church.
