Melvin and Noreen Weems to observe 50th anniversary years ago

Melvin (Mick) and Noreen Weems of rural Peabody will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 14.

Their children and grandchildren invite friends and relatives to help them celebrate their 50 years together at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 17 at Peabody United Methodist Church, 403 Sycamore, Peabody.

The couple was married Feb. 14, 1958, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church (now Salem United Methodist Church), Newton.

They lived in Newton until 1963, when they moved to rural Peabody.

Melvin retired from Hesston Corporation/Agco in December 1999, and Noreen retired in May 2007, as director of Marion County Department for Elderly.

They enjoy retirement, taking part in outdoor activities with family and friends here and in Saguache, Colo.

The couple has three children, Sandra Watson of Portland, Ore., Darren and Annette Weems of Peabody, and Teresa, who is deceased. They also have five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
