Meyer's Malarkey

Readers who enjoy the Memories page of this newspaper eagerly anticipate it weekly. Not only are those who seek to see if they are mentioned, but also those who use the columns to jog their memory a bit. And there are others, an increasingly large number, who are relative "newcomers" to the county and use Memories to learn more about the area. They are history buffs who like to learn more.

Those people should turn to the offer being made this week by the Kansas State Historical Society. It is in the form of an advertisement on another page of this issue.

The generous offer is made to all new members. Not only will your state dues be paid, you will receive all the interesting publications, but KSHS also will remit $8 to help Marion County Historical Society. The state society is expanding and eager to help the county society grow. It's one of those "win/win" offers.

We've been reading KSHS publications for years, and save most copies for future reference. Membership alone is worth your money. Added benefits not only include all publications the state society mails to members, but also now includes a generous donation to your county historical society.

Not only will you enjoy it, you also could reap a great deal of enjoyment by providing membership for a friend.
