MHS debate teams compete at league, already looking forward to next season
Marion High School debaters competed Jan. 4 in the final meet of the season at the MCAA debate league tournament at Hutchinson Community College.
Isaac Guetersloh and Lee Ownbey were affirmative representatives. Jon Nesser and Clay Riggs debated the negative side of the resolution. Both teams defeated Haven.
Guetersloh was the #1 speaker in one round and Ownbey was the #1 speaker in three rounds.
Nesser was the #1 speaker in one round. Riggs ranked #2 speaker in one round.
Kevin Billbe and Kara Druse were timekeepers. Billbe also was an alternate debater.
"Debaters are eager to get next year's topic so they can start researching all over again," said coach Mary Griffith. "Learning is a never-ending activity and we are so fortunate to have debate and forensics in our high school to enrich communication skills," she added.
