MHS debate teams finish with successful season

Sports reporter

No matter how comfortable some of the advanced debaters are, Griffith will tell you it wasn't always that way.

"They are all nervous in the beginning," she said.

But like Herzet said, the debate bug seems to bite those who join, although maybe not everyone.

"Some people don't get into it, and that's OK," Chris Guetersloh said.

But he also said even if his mother and siblings didn't encourage him and his sister to participate, they still would.

"I would do it anyway. It looks good on a college application," Chris said with a smile.

With the season over the students will take what they have learned in debate and apply those study tactics to their other classes.

But come next fall the debate bug will more than likely bite everyone on this year's team.

And what about anyone else interested in joining the team?

"Come and see," Chris said. "That's what I'd tell them."
