MHS debaters compete at Hutchinson
Marion High School debate teams competed in an MCAA league meet at Hutchinson Junior College.
Adam and Isaac Guetersloh shared a split with Hesston and Nickerson (No. 2 in MCAA league). Adam was the No. 1 speaker in two rounds.
Jon Nesser and Kevin Billbe defeated Nickerson and shared a split with Haven. Nesser was rated the No. 1 speaker by three judges. Billbe was ranked No. 1 by one judge.
"The MCAA league tournament was perhaps more challenging than the competition of 6A schools," coach Mary Griffith said.
Griffith's former student teacher, Marilyn Glover, Mr. and Mrs. James Meier, and the Rev. David Branson served as MHS debate judges.
Jake Cochran, Zach Helmstead, and Amara Neuberger were timekeepers.
