MHS debaters place sixth at Hesston
The Marion High School debate team of Lee Ownbey and Isaac Guetersloh placed sixth Saturday at the Haven Debate Tournament.
There were 26 teams in the advanced tournament. Ownbey and Guetersloh defeated Trinity Academy, Garden City, Liberal, and Ellinwood.
Ownbey was ranked as a #1 speaker in five rounds. Guetersloh received one #1 placement.
Christine Coleman and Colton Olsen defeated Nickerson and Hoisington and split with Garden City. Coleman was the #1 speaker in two rounds.
The novices competed against junior varsity teams.
"This was an extremely competitive tournament," said coach Mary Griffith.
Novices will debate at Buhler Thursday and seniors will serve as judges.
