MHS graduates named to WU honor society

Marion High School graduates Kayla Barrett of Marion and Heidi Zogelman of Florence recently were inducted in Phi Kappa Phi honor society at Washburn University. Barrett also was named a junior scholar.

Those elected to membership include juniors in the top 7.5 percent of their class and seniors in the top 10 percent of their class.

Barrett, an incoming junior, is majoring in business with concentrations in accounting and finance. She is the daughter of David Barrett and Cynthia Barrett of Marion.

Incoming senior Zogelman is majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. She is the daughter of Nick and Sharon Zogelman, Florence.

Rhodes named

to honor society

Matthew Rhodes, a Marion High School graduate, recently was inducted as a member of Kansas State University's chapter of Phi Kappa Phi.

Students elected to membership include the upper 7.5 percent second semester juniors and the upper 10 percent of seniors with outstanding graduate students.

Rhodes is a junior at the university, majoring in microbiology. He is the son of Bruce and Brenda Rhodes, Marion.

Michael Brookens

awarded scholarship

Michael Brookens of Marion will attend Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn.

He is the recipient of a Concordia College Presidential Distinction Award and Concordia College Music Performance Scholarship.

A 2006 graduate of Marion High School, Brookens was involved in football, track, choir, band, jazz band, MHS Singers, scholars' bowl, forensics, and honor choir.

Brookens is the son of J. Robert and Anita Brookens of Marion.
