MHS homecoming is Friday

Marion High School's annual homecoming king and queen will be crowned Friday.

Queen candidates are Allie Maddox, daughter of Danny and Brenda Maddox; Emalee Versch, daughter of Jim and Judy Versch; and Megan Hudson, daughter of Steve and Jill Hudson, all of Marion.

King candidates are Casey Nelson, son of Steve and Diane Sams, Marion; Dave DeForest, son of Charles and Cathy DeForest, Florence; and Michael Brookens, son of Bob and Anita Brookens, Marion.

Queen candidates will be escorted by their fathers in red, white, and blue golf carts.

Little helpers are Grace Winter, daughter of Todd and Shawna Winter; and Luke Lanning, son of Lawrence and Traci Lanning, all of Marion.

Returning king and queen candidates are Dale Vogel and Amber Richmond.

Homecoming coronation will begin at 6:30 p.m. and fans are encouraged to attend the tailgate party from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

MHS student council planned spirit week which began with pajama day and includes hippie day and gothic day. The week will end with students encouraged to wear school colors on Friday.

Immediately following the middle school football game Thursday, classes will participate in an obstacle course and cheerleaders will host candidate games. After that, the traditional "Burning of the Dummy" will occur. All activities will take place at Warrior Stadium.

Cheerleaders will lead a pep rally at 3 p.m. Friday in the vacant lot by Duckwall's and the public is encouraged to attend.

The Warriors will host the Sterling Black Bears with kickoff at 7 p.m. Friday.
