MHS to host scholars bowl
Marion High School will host a 16-team 3A regional scholars' bowl Thursday.
The meet will begin at 4 p.m. and competition will take place in the music room, library, and three rooms on the second floor of the middle school.
Sixteen teams will be divided into two pools of eight teams and compete in a round-robin format.
The top two teams from each pool will advance to semi-finals and the winners of the semi-finals will play for the championship. Losers will play for third place.
Top three teams will advance to state competition Feb. 11 at Rossville.
Each round of competition will consist of 16 questions from the areas of foreign language, social science, language arts, math, science, fine arts, and year-in-review.
The public is invited to attend but cannot enter or leave a room after competition begins. Applause is appropriate only at the completion of a round. There can be no audience talking, prompting, or signaling.
