Mildred Gibb

Mildred "Millie" Gibb, 90, of Elmdale, died Oct. 18, 2006, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

She was born Aug. 17, 1916, in Cedar Point, and was the daughter of Benton Scott and Hattie Mae (Vinson) Thompson.

She obtained her teaching certificate after high school and taught school for four or five years.

On July 3, 1945, she married Bill Gibb in Strong City. He died in 2000.

Millie worked in an airplane factory in Wichita during the war and as a nurse's aide at a nursing home in Cottonwood Falls. She was a member of Elmdale United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Thompson and Jake Thompson; and three sisters, Susie Robinson, Irene Link, and Bertha Fisher.

Survivors include three sons, John Scott Gibb, Elmdale, Dennis William "Pete" Gibb, Liberal, and Stanley Dale Gibb, Latham; daughter, Susan A. Bradford, Wichita; sister, Betty L. Thompson, Cedar Point; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service was held Oct. 21, at Elmdale United Methodist Church, the Rev. John Hastings officiating. Burial followed in Elmdale Cemetery.
