Mildred Vajnar

Mildred Vajnar, 89, died Feb. 22, 2007, at Kansas Christian Home, Newton.

Born Feb. 8, 1918, in Marion County, she was the daughter of Adolph and Lucy (Navrat) Holub.

On Oct. 14, 1941, she married Jerry Vajnar at Pilsen. She was a homemaker and farmer.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Louis, and Sylvan; and two sisters, Anna and Henrietta.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Vajnar of Newton; two daughters, Jane and Pete Combs of Newton and Vickie and Don Kraus of Marion; two sons, Jerome and Cindy Vajnar of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lynn and Connie Vajnar of Newton; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

The rosary was recited Feb. 26, followed by the funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton, with Father James Mainzer and Father Paul Oborny officiating.

Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton.

Memorial funds have been established with the church, Father Kapaun Guild, or the Alzheimer's Association.
