MMS C-team stays undefeated

Marion Middle School girls' basketball C-team improved to 5-0 Thursday with a victory against Lindsborg.

The Wildcats led 15-8 at the half and allowed just four points in the second half, winning 23-12.

Kayla Williams and Josie Freeby led the team. Williams scored six points and Freeby had five.

Other scoring came from Ashley Ratzloff with four points, and Shayla Rahe, Emily Hett, Madison Chamberland, and Jordan Harper all with two points each.

The A-team lost a second consecutive close game, falling to the Vikings, 26-25.

The teams were tied at 13 at the break, and the Wildcats were down two heading into the fourth quarter.

Kayley Heerey and Julia Zeiner both scored two points in the fourth for MMS, but it wasn't enough to counter Lindsborg's three points.

Heerey had eight points to lead the Wildcat scoring attack, while Zeiner and Kristen Steinborn score five points.

Sarah Freeby had three points, and Emalee Kelsey and Lindsay Hett had two each.

The B-team struggled at home against the Vikings, dropping an 18-6 decison.

Josie Freeby, Shanna Kline, and Shelby Purcell each had a basket for the Wildcats.
