MMS girls clash with Collegiate
Marion Middle School volleyball team traveled to Wichita Collegiate Thursday and came out with one victory.
The seventh grade team defeated the Spartans easily, winning 25-13 and 25-15.
The Wildcats executed sound fundamentals in the victory that raised their record to 4-2. Kayley Heerey, Sarah Freeby, and Lindsay Hett led the team with 10 successful hits each.
The seventh grade team didn't fare as well, losing 25-14 and 25-18. Frankie Clarke had 10 successful serves.
The teams played one mixed match, with Collegiate winning 25-17 and 25-13. The loss evened the team's record at 3-3.
The Wildcats will play host to the Mid-Central Activities Association tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday. The tournament is made up of the six teams in the eastern division: Marion, Smoky Valley, Wichita Collegiate, Hillsboro, Hesston, and Halstead.
