More changes in the works for county generator

Staff reporter

Marion County and the City of Marion are discussing options regarding the relocation and changes of electrical service.

Michele Abbott-Becker, director of communications, emergency management and 911, reported Feb. 29 to Marion County Commission that options were being explored.

With the purchase and installation of a generator for the courthouse and jail to use in case of power outage, the city had suggested moving the current power line and transformer to a concrete pad on the courthouse property. The city also suggested one meter for both the jail and courthouse instead of two that currently are being used.

The commission was in favor of the proposal. A location for the pad will be determined.
