Mostly Malarkey

Recently this column reflected on a visit to Paul Greeven's Dahmen hotel and restaurant in the Ardennes of Belgium.

Another trip to be remembered was following the visit to Bullingen of our friends John and Marian Crofoot, prior to the senator's untimely death.

We had suggested the hotel in Bullingen, and told John to insist that owner Greeven register them in "elf." Number 11 was by far the best of the lot, with a bathroom, and great view of the courtyard.

They enjoyed their stay and got well acquainted with the friendly Paul.

The next time we went to Bullingen we had "elf" again and enjoyed our stay. Though it's one of the few rooms with a built-in bath, it had new putrid purple towels.

When we got home to Marion, John asked if we'd had a good visit with Paul, enjoyed the Dahmen's fabulous cuisine, and asked, "How'd you like those towels?"

The Ol' Jayhawk had been victim of a long distance joke from K-Stater John.

Do people have that kind of fun anymore?
