MPD investigates accident, other cases

Marion Police Department investigated a two-vehicle, non-injury accident July 12 at Fifth and Main streets.

July 8: Livestock was reported on U.S. 56 and Cedar Street. A residential alarm was activated; everything was OK. A warning was issued for operating a bicycle after dark without proper headlight. A lost motorist received assistance.

July 9: A civil standby was conducted. An officer met with a subject regarding a junk vehicle.

July 10: A lost motorist received assistance. A dog barking complaint was filed in the 1300 block of East Main Street. A tag was reported stolen from a vehicle while parked at First and Main streets. A lost motorist received assistance. An officer responded to a report of juveniles blocking a driveway with their vehicles at Central Park; warnings were issued for illegal possession of fireworks and possession of tobacco products by a minor.

July 11: An officer worked with an outside agency in the recovery of a stolen tag reported earlier in the week; the investigation will continue.

July 12: A business owner met with an officer regarding security concerns.

Thursday: An ambulance crew received assistance. Officers attended a meeting at police department. An open business door was discovered; the business was checked and secured. Response was given to a business alarm that was activated because of the weather; everything was OK. Weather watch was conducted. The city electrical crew was notified when sparks were seen at Marion Baseball Complex.

Friday: Vehicle identification number inspections were conducted at the police department. An officer met with subjects regarding a custody dispute. A possible suicidal subject was reported; an officer met with subjects and everything was OK.

Officers drove 1,083 miles, and issued three warning citations.
