Mumps probably in Marion County

Probable mumps cases have been reported in Marion County.

According to Diedre Serene, Marion County Public Health Administrator, the first case was reported "around May 8."

"There are some cases reported in Peabody and Goessel," said Serene. She did not want to divulge exact dates and number of cases until the cases are confirmed.

"Schools closely related to the cases have been notified," she added. "The ones who have probable cases of mumps were immunized."

Serene said there was no common connection between the cases.

As of Monday, Kansas Department of Health and Environment has received reports of 601 mumps cases in 60 counties.

Bank offers

remote deposit

Central National Bank customers can now electronically deposit checks from computers at home or businesses.

Deposit Direct is a check scanning, data recognition, and electronic remote deposit service that enables customers to make bank deposits without leaving the office or home. It also reduces data entry by archiving check images and data.

Check 21 legislation, passed in October 2004, allows electronic check images to replace actual paper checks.
