Nellie Hill places third in national competition

Laura Klenda receives American Degree

During the 78th National FFA Convention, Oct. 26-29, in Louisville, Ky., Nellie Hill, a member of the Centre FFA chapter, competed in the national creed speaking career development event.

She finished third out of 47 competitors. She qualified to compete by winning the state competition in May.

Nellie was required to present the FFA creed and answer three questions related to the creed and agriculture.

The creed was written 75 years ago by E.M. Tiffany and adopted by the third national convention.

Nellie is the daughter of Kevin and Teresa Hill of rural Marion.

Other members attending the convention included Brandon Albrecht, Nathan Barney, Gloria Belton, Andy Carlson, Kacey Hanschu, Konley Harding, Ryan Richmond, Tye Remy, Julie Rziha, Randi Smith, and James Weber.

Centre FFA advisers Cary Granzow and Gaea Wimmer accompanied the group.

Laura Klenda, a 2004 CHS graduate, joined the group Friday and received the American Degree in an awards ceremony Saturday. She joins an elite group of FFA members who have reached that level of accomplishment.
