New carpet store opens with traditional values

Open house is Monday

It seemed logical to Stuart and Lea Isaac to expand their business from carpet cleaning to selling carpet and floor covering.

The Durham couple purchased the carpet cleaning and floor care business four years ago from Les Flaming, former owner of Hillsboro Carpet Center and now have purchased the other half of the business.

"I was commonly asked about repair and purchase of floor covering," said Stuart.

The Flamings were in the process of retiring when the Isaacs were encouraged by the Hillsboro community to purchase the business.

"We bought the displays and inventory," said Stuart.

Supreme Floor Company currently is located at 110 N. Main, the former Quick Flick and Radio Shack building.

Renovations were completed in the leased building and the business opened April 3.

"We're still in the process of becoming organized," said Stuart. The couple plans to update displays.

"We offer traditional vinyl and carpet as well as new lamanents, ceramic, and hardwood floors," he said.

Some floor covering is carried in-stock. If a customer wants a carpet that isn't in the store, within seven days it will be delivered.

"We install everything we sell," said Stuart, "or a person can carry it out and have it laid."

Offering a variety of floor covering in all price ranges, the Isaacs are confident they have something for everyone.

Learning from one of the best, Stuart continues his installation training with Les Flaming who laid carpet for 40 years.

"Les learned his skill from Joel Frantz," said Stuart.

The couple will continue with the carpet cleaning business, Clean Supreme.

The cleaning process is through hot water extraction on carpet and upholstery.

"We sell a lot of Scotchguard," Stuart said which is a process to keep stains from setting on carpet and upholstery.

Lea explained how they came up with the name.

"We owned a dairy business for 13 years," she said. "We called it Cream Supreme. So when we started the cleaning business, we decided to call it Clean Supreme."

Generally, scheduling of carpet cleaning of homes or businesses is made one to two weeks ahead.

The carpet store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Wallpaper also is available and Lea plans to offer vacuum sweepers and cleaning supplies.

"We'll offer the type of cleaning supplies you can't find in other retail stores," she said.

"Worth coming home to" is the slogan for the business and the Isaacs hope customers will give them an opportunity to prove it.

"We offer quality products and services at competitive prices," said Stuart, and want local and area residents to give them a chance before shopping out of town or out of county.
