Nine-and-under All-Stars headed to state

The Cottonwood Valley League nine-and-under All-Stars won the Cal Ripken Division four tournament this past weekend in Peabody.

On Friday CVL opened with a tough Lyons team, taking the game 5-3. Dylan Seacat was the winning pitcher, giving up just one hit in four innings and collecting eight strike outs.

Bret Voth and Grif Case led the way offensively with two hits each. Seacat was named the game's MVP.

Saturday CVL faced an over-matched Council Grove team, winning 17-1.

Case was the winning pitcher in the contest throwing three innings of no-hit baseball, while striking out eight.

Taylor Heidebrecht collected three hits in the game, while Zach Robson added two hits in the victory. Case was named the MVP.

Sunday brought another victory for CVL against Lyons. This time the team brought out its whooping stick and crushed Lyons 15-5.

Seacat pitched three innings, giving up two hits and striking out eight. Case was 4-4 at the plate while, Heidebrecht, Robson, and Seacat had three this each.

Seacat earned his second MVP award of the tournament.

The All-Stars begin play July 21 in the State Tournament of Champions in Wellington.
