No comment is rare

A week without some editorial comment is a rare occurrence in this business, but it happens.

One could chalk it up to procrastination or laziness on the writer's part. It could be nothing worthy of comment.

This is one of those weeks.

Daylight-saving time begins Sunday. We'll "fall back" and gain an hour of sleep Saturday night. It also means the sun goes down an hour sooner and we'll be experiencing longer nights and shorter days.

In another week or two, the trees will be bare and you'll miss a golden opportunity to take a ride in the country to look at the fall foliage. Do it now.

While you're at it, be sure to visit Lincolnville, Lost Springs, Tampa, Ramona, and Burdick to see the Scarecrows on Parade. That project has been a huge success for those little towns.

We're a little surprised there hasn't been more comment and letters to the editor about issues facing Marion County citizens. No one has commented about the possibility of a new jail or new facilities for the school district. We've only heard from one person about the casino vote in the county.

Marion County residents, check your mailboxes this weekend for a special publication we've been working on at Hoch Publishing Company.

It's a new endeavor for the staff and something we think you're sure to like. Let us know what you think.
