Notices have error, current values correct
Information on valuation notices mailed to Marion County property owners this past week is incorrect.
Marion County Appraiser Cindy Magill said the 2006 valuation is correct but a computer "glitch" caused the previous year's value on the change of value notices to reflect the 2004 tax year, not 2005.
Anyone who would like to know the property's valuation for 2005 should call the appraiser's office at (620) 382-3715 or (800) 305-8851.
Magill also reminded property owners that they have 30 days from the date the valuation notice was mailed to schedule a hearing with the appraiser's office to appeal the 2006 valuation. The last date to call the office for informal appeals is May 1.
