Octoberfest meal to raise funds for community building

The evening meal Saturday at Lincolnville Octoberfest will be provided by the core community building committee as a fund-raiser.

Proceeds will go toward the purchase of tables, chairs, and other furnishings for the new building.

The meal will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. and will include barbecue pork burgers, potato chips, baked beans, pickle, brownie, and drink.

Tickets are $6 in advance, $7 at the door for adults; $3 in advance, $4 at the door for children.

Tickets may be purchased at Pilsen State Bank or from any of the core committee members. They are: Jane Pigorsch, Brian Owens, John Chizek, Anita Svoboda, and David Schneider, all of Lincolnville; Glenn Carlson of Burdick; and Gail Makovec of Ramona.

Ticket holders will be eligible for a drawing for one adult and one child prize.

Bricks to be inscribed with donors' names also will be sold throughout the day in the park.

Other Octoberfest activities will begin with a pancake feed from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Lincolnville fire house, sponsored by Pilsen State Bank.

At the same time, a fishing tournament will take place at the Chizek Farm pond.

Activities will begin in the park at 10 a.m. when the Alex Stuchlik Polka Band will play.

After the 11 o'clock parade, a medallion hunt will begin with announcement of the first clue. A new clue will be given at the top of every hour. The winner will be announced when the medallion is found and will receive a $50 savings bond from Tampa State Bank.

Lincolnville United Methodist Church, across from the park, will provide a noon lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Maurice Pritz & Friends will perform from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.

A Hope High School dance team will perform at 12:15 p.m. and again at 3:15 p.m.

Abilene Old West Gun Fighters will put on a show at 1:15 p.m. and again at 3 p.m.

From 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., a talent show will be held at the grandstand.

Many activities will be available for children. A noon to 4 p.m. carnival may be enjoyed for a $5 all-day wristband. Hula-hoop contests, a football toss, treasure dig, bovine bingo, and a duck pond also will be available.

For older folks, a horseshoe tournament will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Door prizes will be awarded twice during the day, once at 11:30 a.m. and again at 3:30 p.m. The winning raffle ticket for a large gas barbecue grill also will be drawn at that time.

Individuals must be present to win free door prizes but need not be present to win the raffle.

Arts and crafts booth will be available all day.

A dance on Main Street will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight, with music provided by Highway 77 Express, Lost Springs.
