Octoberfest to celebrate 'good ol' days' at Lincolnville

A full day of activities is planned Oct. 7 for the 20th anniversary celebration of Octoberfest at Lincolnville.

The 11 a.m. parade theme is "Remember When. . . Tell Me About the Good Ol' Days."Registration for the parade begins at 10 a.m. at Main and Lombard.

Cash prizes will be awarded in the following categories: theme, floats, antique cars and trucks, and the children's categories.

Other morning activities include: a fun run at 7:30 a.m. with registration at 7 a.m.; breakfast from 8-10 a.m. at the fire station; and a 9:30 a.m. performance by the Alex Stuchlik Polka Band. Lincolnville United Methodist Church will serve a noon meal.

Afternoon entertainment includes performances by McPherson Youth Pipe and Drum Band, Black Kettle Bluegrass Band, Maurice Pritz and Friends, and storyteller Kenneth Nienstedt.

A senior cake walk will take place from 1 to 2 p.m.

Children's entertainment includes a noon to 4 p.m. kiddie carnival and games.

A new event this year is a paintball tournament from noon to 5 p.m. at Lincolnville ball diamond.

Bingo is scheduled at the community center beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Raffle tickets will be sold, and a drawing held at 5 p.m.

Arts and crafts and food stands also will be available.

Evening activities begin with a 5:30 p.m. hog roast at Lincolnville Community Center, sponsored by Bailey's Tavern.

From 8 p.m. to midnight, a dance for youth will take place in the park. An Octoberfest Dance at Bailey's Tavern will feature Cuzster Band.
