Officers investigate altercation at Marion High School

A Marion police officer responded to a fight April 4 at Marion High School. The altercation resulted in a student being transported by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital. The student was treated and released.

April 4: A sick, wild animal was reported but not located in the 900 block of North Cedar Street. An individual was interviewed regarding a juvenile smoking cigarettes. Contact was made with several residents regarding "junk" vehicle violations.

Tuesday: Officers watched for severe weather. An officer responded to a business alarm; everything was OK.

Wednesday: EMS personnel were assisted with an ambulance run. A warning citation was issued to a resident who had a dog running at-large. An officer responded to a business alarm; everything was OK. Response was given to a verbal argument; when an officer arrived a subject already had left the residence. An officer was in Newton for an interview on a case. A dog barking complaint was reported; contact with the owners was made and a warning citation issued.

Thursday: An investigation was conducted regarding a complaint of trash being dumped along the road at industrial park. A complaint was investigated regarding a possible theft of services in the 300 block of South Lincoln Street. An officer attended a meeting in Wichita regarding driver restraint issues. A suspicious package complaint was investigated in the 200 block of South Fourth Street. Response was given to a dog running at-large complaint in the 300 block of South Lincoln Street. A report of two young, unsupervised children in East Park resulted in contact being made with the children and their parents. An officer attended youth court at the courthouse.

Friday: Vehicle identification number inspections were provided at police department. A report of suspicious activity of inmates surrounding a young girl behind the county jail was investigated; contact was made with female and dispatch; everything was OK. An individual met with authorities regarding a situation with their child. A warning citation was issued for speeding. A speeding citation was issued. A report of a stolen item from Central Park was investigated; the lost item was located and returned to owner. A male subject was arrested for criminal threat, criminal damage to property, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct following a report of an individual being threatened in the 300 block of North Lincoln Street. A warning was issued for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Saturday: Assistance was provided to an ambulance crew on a run. A 911 hang-up was responded to in the 900 block of North Cedar Street; everything was OK. An intoxicated individual was reported walking near Marion Airport; an officer assisted a sheriff's deputy in locating the subject at Marion County Lake. A noise complaint was investigated in the 300 block of North Lincoln.

Sunday: Response was given to a dog running at-large in the 100 block of North Roosevelt; the dog returned home and owner was issued a warning citation. Five "junk" vehicle letters were served to residents. An officer responded to St. Luke Hospital regarding a possible problem situation; everything was OK. Assistance was provided to an ambulance crew on a run.

Officers drove 770 miles, issued one citation, five warning citations, and made one arrest.
